Hostel Pupa
Adults-only seafront hostel in a 2017-renovated historic building, two kitchens and a sun deck on the bay
Hostel Pupa occupies a historic building renovated in 2017 on Njegoseva, directly on the Boka Bay seafront, a 5-minute walk south of Kotor's Old Town and the bus station. Adults-only, with dormitory rooms, free Wi-Fi, two shared kitchens, a terrace and patio with sun deck on the water, free parking and laundry. 9.0/10 from 2,342 reviews — the most-reviewed hostel in Kotor by a long way, with couples rating the location 10.0 for two-person trips.
Hostel Pupa occupies a historic building on Njegoseva 254, fully renovated in 2017, directly on the Boka Bay seafront a 5-minute walk south of the old town's Sea Gate and a flat 5 minutes from the Kotor bus station. The address is the trade-off most adults-only travelers make on purpose: not inside the walls, but you swim off the doorstep, fall asleep to water on stone, and wake up before the cruise crowd lands.
The 2017 renovation is evident — fresh paint, properly insulated rooms, modern wiring, two full shared kitchens (one indoor for proper cooking, one on the patio for assembly jobs in summer), and washer/dryer that work. Dorms are 4-, 6- and 8-bed with curtained bunks, lockers, A/C, and the kind of extra-long beds (>6.5 ft) that taller travelers will recognize as luxury. There are private doubles and twins as well, all with shared bathrooms, all with the bay view or one of the side patios.
The operational rhythm is what people remember. Owner Nina and the rotating volunteer crew (Junie is the most-named in reviews) run a low-key social calendar — community dinner once or twice a week, hiking pickup van to Lovćen on weekends, free city-tip session on the patio every evening at 19:00. There's no on-site bar and no boat-party operation; for that, the OTYH crew runs the boat trips Tuesday and Thursday and Pupa guests often ride along.
Reality check: this is the calm, adults-only, slightly-out-of-the-walls option. Pick it for a 4-7 night Kotor stay with day trips, swimming, cooking, and sunset on the patio. Don't pick it if you want to stumble out of your dorm into Trg od Oružja at midnight — that's the OTYH or Centrum address. The 5-minute walk is flat and well-lit, but it is a 5-minute walk.

“It was my first solo stay in a hostel and I was not disappointed. Great host Nina and volunteers were very nice — Junie especially. Location is perfect, each evening there was something to do, comfortable beds, and TWO kitchens. They helped me to extend my stay and printed documents I needed without any drama.”
“Great energy from both of the hosts — they make you feel like home. From the moment you arrive they explain city tips and give recommendations, which truly shows genuine care. The place is very clean and rooms are well organised with good equipment.”
“Located near the south gate of the old town, about 5 minutes from the bus station. Bed was clean, fresh sheets and a towel, and the bunks have curtains. The two kitchens are well equipped and the patio is the spot at sunset.”
