Tip Nº 01
Pick your hostel by when you want to be social. Morning tours (Moon, Five Point 11:00) structure the first half of the day. Friday pub crawl (Trip & Hostel) needs you to arrive Thursday or Friday. Rooftop atmosphere (Zappio) only works May to September. Pick the programming pattern that matches your trip dates.
Tip Nº 02
Arrive on time for scheduled events. The 21:00 Tipsy Pub Crawl at Trip & Hostel and Five Point fills by 20:55 — late arrivals miss the pre-departure shot and the group photo. The 11:00 walking tours have a 15-person cap and have been known to fill by 10:45 in summer.
Tip Nº 03
Don't anchor every evening to hostel programming. Use the walking tour as your Day 1 orientation, then go find Mariacka patios on Day 2 on your own. Tram 8 or 3 from Dlugie Ogrody to Wrzeszcz is 14 minutes — Cafe Jozef K and Browar Piwna are the student pick and cheaper than Old Town tourist restaurants.
Tip Nº 04
Combine hostels' strengths across your stay. Book night 1-2 at Trip & Hostel for the pub crawl and social buzz, move to Zappio night 3-4 for the rooftop and the heritage building. Both are a 5-minute walk apart in the Old Town — luggage move takes 10 minutes.
Tip Nº 05
Sunday is the weak night for hostel programming in Gdansk — no pub crawls, minimal bars open late. Use Sunday for the Westerplatte boat (11:00 from Targ Rybny, 60 PLN round trip) or the SKM train to Sopot to walk the wooden pier at sunset.
