Hostel Uno - No Alkohol! Only Comfort
The only Krakow hostel where you'll actually sleep
An Old Town hostel with a strictly enforced no-alcohol policy, built for travellers who want to actually sleep. Apartment-style private rooms and small dorms on Starowiślna, five minutes from Rynek Główny and ten from Kazimierz.
Hostel Uno does something almost no other Krakow hostel does: it refuses alcohol on the premises. No bar, no in-house beers, no 'just one drink in the common room'. The policy is written into the booking confirmation and enforced at the front desk. The result is a hostel that consistently rates 8.9 because guests who book it know exactly what they are signing up for — genuine quiet in a central Old Town location.
The building on Starowiślna is set up as apartment-style accommodation: private rooms with ensuite, a couple of small 4-bed dorms, and shared kitchens on each floor. It is five minutes' walk west to Rynek Główny and ten minutes south to Kazimierz, so you're not removed from the action — you just don't bring it back to your bed. Breakfast isn't included but there's a Biedronka supermarket 2 minutes away.
The family running the place (owner-operated, second-generation) will hand you a 20-zloty-lunch list and genuinely engage about Auschwitz logistics. There are organized walking tours, movie nights in the common room, and a quiet social programme, but the alcohol-free line is the thing that makes it actually work.
