Our Honest Take

From the Hostelpedia team. No BS, just real advice

room00 Chueca is the hostel to pick if nightlife is the point of your trip and you want that nightlife to include Chueca โ€” the city's queer-friendly, Sunday-brunch-heavy, bar-dense neighborhood. The in-house nightclub downstairs is a genuine unlock: no cover, no queue, no 25-minute metro home at 4am. Trade-off is obvious: floors 1-2 get bass bleed through Saturday night. Pick floor 3 or higher if sleep matters, or lean into it with a Thursday-to-Sunday booking and use the nightclub as the feature. Travelers who prioritize museums or calmer evenings should look at LATROUPE Prado or The Hat instead.

๐ŸŽฏ Insider Tips

  • 1Ask for a dorm on floor 3 or 4 when booking โ€” the 2nd-floor dorms get the club bass Thursday to Saturday.
  • 2Sunday brunch at Lateral on Fuencarral (4 min walk) at 12:00 is the post-hangover tradition โ€” croquetas and โ‚ฌ3 mimosas from the happy hour.
  • 3The rooftop opens at 10:00 and is nearly always empty for the first hour โ€” best place for the morning coffee + metro-plan.
  • 4El Tigre (Calle Infantas, 5 min walk) still serves the free-tapa-with-beer model โ€” order a caรฑa, you get a plate of jamรณn. Rare in Chueca in 2026.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Why We Love It

1

In-house nightclub with free entry for guests โ€” no queue, no cover, no late-night metro home

2

Chueca's bar circuit (Calle Pelayo, Plaza de Chueca) starts across the street

3

En-suite bathrooms in every dorm at โ‚ฌ26 is genuinely strong value for this block

4

Fuencarral pedestrian street is the 2-minute walk to โ‚ฌ20 shoe shops and Sunday brunch

5

LGBTQ+ friendly building by geography and by staff โ€” Chueca is the gay district and room00 fits the scene

๐Ÿ“– The Full Story

room00 Chueca sits on Calle Hortaleza, one of the main arteries through Chueca โ€” Madrid's queer-friendly, bar-heavy, brunch-on-Sunday neighborhood. The front door is 100 metres from Chueca metro and 150 from Plaza de Chueca itself, which means the Thursday-Saturday bar scene starts on your doorstep and runs past sunrise. Fuencarral, the fashion-shopping pedestrian street, is a 2-minute walk. Gran Vรญa metro is seven minutes away.

The building functions as both hostel and small club. The ground floor is a bar-restaurant serving breakfast 08:00-11:00, lunch mains 13:00-16:00, and a nightly happy hour 18:00-20:00. The basement is a proper nightclub with a DJ Thursday-Saturday from 00:00-05:00, free entry for guests, and a โ‚ฌ10 cover for non-guests. That nightclub is a draw and a hazard: if you want to sleep before 4am and book a room on floors 1-2, you will hear bass.

Rooms are all en-suite โ€” 4-, 6-, and 8-bed mixed dorms, private twins, and private doubles. Linens, towels, and toiletries are provided. Bunks have reading lights, USB chargers, and lockers. Air conditioning works. The rooftop terrace (small, not a full bar like The Hat) is open 10:00-22:00 for coffee and sunbathing.
