Sisterhood is the female-only hostel Tirana needed and now leads the Balkans for. Run by a women's collective founded in 2021, the property occupies a 1980s building on Rruga Çamëria, seven minutes from the Pyramid of Tirana and 12 minutes from Skanderbeg Square. The 9.1 rating is the highest of any female-only hostel in southeast Europe.
The operating philosophy is solo female travel done thoughtfully: every guest gets a check-in conversation that includes the local safety brief (which streets to avoid after midnight, which marshrutka corners are which), a Whatsapp group joining link for the current guests, and an invite to the Tuesday meet-up dinner. Era — the founder — personally checks every guest in when she is in town.
Dorms are 4, 6, and 8 beds with curtains, AC, USB sockets, lockers under each bunk, and lights that can be dimmed individually. The 4-bed dorm has memory-foam mattresses and an en-suite bathroom. The shared kitchen is properly stocked, the rooftop terrace catches the Dajti sunset, and the common room runs Albanian-language exchange nights twice a week.
The vibe is community-led and unusually warm. The Tuesday dinner is the centre of gravity — guests cook together, share onward routes, and the staff brings raki for whoever is leaving the next day. The walking tour from the gate at 11am is run by a female guide. Day trips to Berat and Theth are organised in groups so solo female guests are never alone on a minibus.
