3 handpicked hostels in Linz, sorted by traveler rating.
Austria's third-largest city and the secret capital of digital art — hosting Ars Electronica every September alongside the Pflasterspektakel street arts festival in July. Linz sits on the Danube midway between Vienna and Salzburg, with a UNESCO City of Media Arts label, the AEC's Deep Space 8K projection room, the Pöstlingbergbahn (Europe's steepest adhesion railway), Café Traxlmayr (1847) for the Vienna-style coffeehouse, and Café Jindrak for the original Linzer Torte. Three hostels, all in or a tram from the Innere Stadt: a self-check-in budget property opposite Casino Linz, a Catholic-association guesthouse with the buffet breakfast that locals score 9.5, and the official Austrian youth hostel up on Froschberg.
