Our Honest Take

From the Hostelpedia team. No BS, just real advice

Abigail's wins on location alone. You're on the Liffey with Temple Bar literally out the front door, but the hostel itself stays quiet enough to sleep. The kitchen is the real hero: well-stocked, clean, and it'll save you a fortune since Dublin restaurants are pricey. Rooms with river views are the ones to request. The crowd skews slightly older and more chill than the party hostels up on Talbot Street. If you want to meet people over breakfast conversation rather than bar crawls, this is your spot. One thing: the area is safe but Temple Bar noise carries at weekends, so pack earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

๐ŸŽฏ Insider Tips

  • 1Request a river-view room at booking. The Liffey views are surprisingly nice, especially at sunset.
  • 2George's Street Arcade is 5 min away. Best cheap lunch in central Dublin, plus vintage shopping.
  • 3Self-cater breakfast and lunch in the kitchen, splurge on one nice dinner. Dublin restaurants are expensive.
  • 4Free walking tours leave from City Hall (3 min walk) daily. Better than the paid alternatives.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Why We Love It

1

The best location in Dublin. Temple Bar is literally seconds away, Trinity College 5 minutes.

2

Shared kitchen is genuinely well-equipped. Self-catering saves you serious money in Dublin.

3

Rooms are spacious with big windows. Some have Liffey views, which is a rare hostel bonus.

4

Social but not chaotic. More kitchen conversations than dance floors.

5

Bar crawls and walking tours organized regularly by staff.

๐Ÿ“– The Full Story

Abigail's Hostel sits on Aston Quay on the south side of the Liffey, literally seconds from the Temple Bar entrance. You could not ask for a more central location in Dublin. Trinity College is a 5-minute walk, Grafton Street shopping is 7 minutes, and O'Connell Bridge is right outside.

The rooms are surprisingly spacious for the price, with big windows that let in good natural light. Some rooms overlook the Liffey, which is a nice bonus. The beds have reading lights and there's enough space that you don't feel crammed. Separate toilet and shower stalls are a practical touch.

The shared kitchen is well-equipped and a genuine money-saver in expensive Dublin. Self-catering here and you'll cut your daily budget significantly. George's Street Arcade is a 5-minute walk for cheap lunch options too.

Abigail's runs bar crawls and walking tours, and the vibe is friendly without being party-focused. It's more the kind of place where you end up chatting in the kitchen with other travelers than doing shots at 2am. Good for solo travelers who want social but not chaotic.
