Hostel ROOM Rotterdam sits in a 1900s townhouse on Van Vollenhovenstraat, the quiet lane that runs parallel to the Witte de Withstraat bar strip. Step out the front door and you're between the Museumpark (3 minutes west) and the bars (4 minutes east). The building is narrow, four floors, with the reception-and-lobby on ground floor, kitchen on first, dorms on second through fourth.
The lobby is the hostel's signature — dark green walls, mismatched vintage armchairs, a wood-burning stove in winter, a map of Rotterdam pinned with travelers' recommendations. Guests hang out there for hours. The first-floor kitchen is well-equipped (induction, oven, two fridges, coffee machine, basic spice rack) and cooking is the main social activity.
Dorms are mixed and female-only options, 4 to 10 beds, wooden-frame bunks with curtains in the newer rooms and open bunks in the older wings. Bathrooms are floor-shared. Rooftop access is available on summer evenings with a small terrace at the back.
The host team runs a free walking tour every Saturday morning (meet in lobby 10:00), a Friday pub crawl of Witte de Withstraat (€5 including first drink), and occasional pop-up dinners. Secure lockers for post check-out storage are a nice touch — many guests stay in Rotterdam for the day-trip to Delft or Kinderdijk after checkout and leave bags here.
