Popcorn Hostel occupies a townhouse on Strada Pisoni in Sector 1, seven minutes on foot from Gara de Nord — the main train and overnight-bus hub. That location is the whole thesis: if you're arriving late by train or bus, or flying into Otopeni and taking the CFR train (it terminates at Gara de Nord), you're in a dorm bed before midnight without needing a taxi. Metro line M1 picks up at Gara de Nord for Piața Victoriei, Romană, and Universității, so Lipscani Old Town is 10 minutes and a change away.

The configuration is 4-, 6-, and 8-bed mixed dorms (metal bunks with reading lights and under-bed lockers), plus smaller private doubles and twins. The standout features are the outdoor spaces: a sun terrace, garden with an outdoor fireplace, BBQ equipment for guest use, and the picnic tables that fill every warm-weather evening. The shared kitchen is cited as "well equipped" in nearly every review — full stovetop, oven, fridge, a proper set of cookware — which is why the hostel skews toward backpackers who actually cook, not just drink.

Social life is the real anchor. Reception runs an evening-entertainment programme — live DJ nights, pub crawl pickups (Shoteria, Control, Fratelli are the regular stops), trivia, and movie nights on the lounge projector. Walking tour desk in the lobby books the Free Walking Tour (daily 10:30), the Communist Tour, and day trips to Brașov. Games room has board games, a pool table, and a PlayStation console that gets actual use in the evenings.

Location-wise, Gara de Nord isn't Lipscani, and the immediate blocks around the station have a sketchier reputation than other neighborhoods — stick to main streets at night, don't flash devices. But Popcorn itself is on a residential side street two blocks from the station, and the walk to Lipscani via the M1 metro is straightforward and safe. Trade-off for €14 dorms in what is Bucharest's best-connected transit hub.
