Hardwood floors, soundproofed rooms, adults-only policy, and a ground-floor bar and restaurant that share the same building so you can eat breakfast and have a nightcap without crossing a street.

Room setup is 4- and 6-bed mixed dorms (metal-frame bunks, individual reading lights, lockers under the bed, privacy curtains on every bunk) plus private doubles and twins with ensuite bathrooms. The owner, who's on site most evenings, walks new arrivals through the neighborhood — where to eat sarmale, how the Muncii metro works, and how to skip the worst Otopeni airport-taxi scams. This is a level of personal attention you don't get at Lipscani's bigger hostels.

Downstairs is a restaurant (Romanian + international, open to the public) and a separate bar, meaning the social space is built around actual food service, not a backpacker pub. The vibe leans quiet-social: you'll meet people at breakfast and over the ground-floor coffee, not via a pub crawl. If you want Control at 02:00 and karaoke-on-Strada-Covaci, stay at Popcorn or 5 Stars High instead. TURQUOISE is the Bucharest hostel you book when you're 28+ and allergic to plastic-cup beer pong.

Location-wise, East-Centre is a ten-minute walk from Piața Unirii via Bulevardul Unirii and about twenty minutes from Lipscani via metro M3 → M2 (one change at Piața Unirii). It's calmer than Lipscani, cheaper than Dorobanți, and well-placed for the Obor market runs on Sunday morning (three stops north on line M1).
