Best Salzburg Hostels with Breakfast Included

Three Salzburg hostels run breakfast operations that beat the central café market — Hostel Salzburg-Wals with the €8 buffet that locals call the best in any Salzburg hostel, Kolpinghaus with breakfast included in every rate (June-September), and The Keep Eco Rooms with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options at €10 add-on. The pattern: Salzburg café breakfasts run €15-20 in the Old Town. These three save you €40-60 over a 2-3 night stay.

§ 01 — Traveler's take
I stayed 4 nights at Kolpinghaus during late August 2025 — Festival weeks, prices doubled in the Old Town. Breakfast was included in the €58/night double-room rate. Every morning the dining room had hot scrambled eggs (replenished every 20 min), four breads from a local bakery, two cheeses, three cold cuts, fresh fruit, müsli, and proper Illy coffee. The reviewer Richard's quote — "effectively a hotel" — is exactly right. Compared to my Vienna stay the previous week where a Café Central breakfast was €22 per person, Kolpinghaus saved me €88 over the 4 mornings.

Kolpinghaus is a Catholic-foundation student hall that opens its rooms to travelers as the SommerHOSTEL from late June to early September. The Keep Eco Rooms

Tips for Choosing a Hostel with Breakfast Included in Salzburg

Tip Nº 01

Hostel Salzburg-Wals's breakfast is open to non-guests too if you're staying nearby — €8 walk-in, 7-9.30 h. The bus 1 from the Old Town takes 25 min, so it's only worth it if you're already passing through Wals.

Tip Nº 02

Kolpinghaus serves breakfast 7-9 h sharp. Get there by 8 because by 8.30 the dining room fills with the family-room guests and the eggs run out by 8.50.

Tip Nº 03

The Keep's vegan/gluten-free breakfast must be requested at booking, not on the morning of. The kitchen plans the orders the night before. Walk-in vegan won't work.

Tip Nº 04

For a free local-priced alternative if you skip the hostel breakfast: Bäckerei Flöckner on the Linzer Gasse does a €4 Salzburger Kornspitz with butter and a takeaway melange (€2.50). Total €6.50, walk to the Mirabell gardens to eat. The cheapest decent Salzburg morning.
