Tip Nº 01
From Danhostel Aarhus City, walk 4 minutes north on Mejlgade to Lecoré — kanelsnegl out of the oven by 7:30, filter coffee 35 DKK, the croissant is also better than the hostel one.
Tip Nº 02
From Aarhus Hostel og Hotel south of the city, the bakery move is harder (you're outside the Latin Quarter ring) — eat the hostel breakfast, then save your morning-coffee 30 DKK for a stop at La Cabra Bakery on the way into the centre.
Tip Nº 03
From Danhostel Aarhus in Risskov, the on-site breakfast is genuinely the smarter pick — the nearest bakery is 12 minutes away in central Risskov, and the hostel buffet has the most pickled-herring-and-rye options of the three (the most authentically Danish setup).
Tip Nº 04
If you're in Aarhus on a Saturday or Sunday, the bakery queues at Lecoré and La Cabra start at 9:00 and don't ease up until 11:00. Go at 7:45 if you want a kanelsnegl that's still warm — that's when the trays come out of the oven.
Tip Nº 05
Pickled herring at breakfast (sild) is the most divisive item on the Danish hostel buffet. Try it once at Danhostel Aarhus in Risskov on a piece of buttered rugbrød. If you don't like it, you'll know forever. If you do, you'll know to order it at Stillers Bar later in the trip.
