“I cooked four times in my Pula week and ate out three times, and my kitchen meals were honestly more memorable. Tržnica market run at 09:00 (around 12 EUR for two days of food: fish, Istrian cheese, tomatoes, wine), back to Antique by 09:30, dinner at 19:00 with a couple from Sweden I met at the market. The restaurant meals were good but the kitchen meals turned strangers into dinner companions. Pula's small enough for that to work.”

Independent hostel on Flaciusova ulica, an 8-minute walk to the Roman Arena and 10 minutes to the harbor. Sea views from the upper-floor rooms, a shared kitchen, bike parking, and a quiet courtyard. The honest, unpretentious pick for the Old Town side of Pula.
Tržnica market closes at 14:00 sharp (Sundays 13:00). Go before noon for the best fish and produce. Prices drop slightly in the last hour as stallholders pack up.
Antique's kitchen is busiest 19:00-20:30. If you want quiet cooking, hit it at 17:00 or 21:30. If you want to meet people, arrive at 19:15.
Bring olive oil and salt from home or buy a small bottle of Istrian olive oil at Tržnica (around 6 EUR for a 250ml bottle). Most hostel kitchens stock basic spices but not premium oil.
Konzum is open 07:00 to 22:00 (Sundays 08:00 to 13:00) and is across the street from Sol Garden, four minutes from Antique, and three minutes from Pipištrelo. Stock up Saturday for any Sunday cooking.
